It's time to check that everyone is in sync -- even if they already think they are.
"For any work or project you're involved in, it's a good time to check in with people to see if there's anything they're missing. Does everyone have all the information they need? Do you? Get everyone on the same page by reviewing and checking the current state of things. Fill in any gaps but be gentle in your approach.
This can be challenging as it's hard to check into things without people possibly feeling defensive, or mistrusted. If you're in charge, talk with everyone about the review, and explain it's just to make sure that everyone has what they need to do their best work. And it's not about trust at all. Have you heard the phrase ""trust but verify""? Mistakes happen. People with the best of intentions and the greatest skill sets sometimes forget or miss something -- we're all Human. If you're not in charge, do a thorough review of your contributions and status. Do you need anything? If someone is waiting on something from you, make sure they know when to expect it.
This can also be a good time to review past occasions where you brought up some deep-seated or intense issues with those around you. Perhaps based on differences in approaches, or clashes with deeply-held beliefs and behaviors that you normally hide from the world. Recall those times and think about how they went. What can you learn from looking back on these experiences? If things could have gone better, how so? What differences could result if they were better able to understand your point of view? Can you think of a way to make that happen someday? This is a hard, internal conversation to have. Breathe. Relax. Take your time."
